Nevada's Recruiting in California- Again

Why have silver when you can have gold
The State of Nevada’s (America's Silver State) is at it again, recruiting business from
California. But this time they are utilizing a play on words around the state’s beloved bear.
Apparently as the advertising goes, the Nevada Development Authority has begun to
release 40 political cartoons incorporating tongue in check comments about the Cal bear
and our business environment. The advertisements are being placed in periodicals such
as the business journals and daily newspapers across the state.
The ads as identified by the Las Vegas Review-Journal center on our bear and the advertisements
play to state businesses with coined phrases such as “Tired of carrying ‘the un-Bear-able load”
then consider moving to Nevada. While yet another asks, “More bad news, bear?
Again, apparently Nevada thinks the wheels (figuratively) are coming off California. Nevada, as
identified by Somer Hollingsworth, president and chief executive officer of the Nevada Development
Authority wants to get in on the front end of what they think will be an exodus of business out of
the state due to a slowing economy and tough fiscal times confronting the state.
But you have to admit, while cute, when you add up all of the factors of moving out of the 8th
largest economy in the world to one that barely registers in the top 200 you must ask yourself,
why would I want silver when I already have gold?
